The lookup begins with these controls. Date of birth is an identity check, not a public search filter. If a valid registration does not appear, review spelling and the date entered before contacting Pierce County Elections. The research did not establish the exact text shown for a failed match, so no particular error message should be expected.

Because the screen asks for a full birth date, use it only for the voter’s own record. A public voter-data request follows a separate process and discloses a narrower set of fields.
Lakewood VoteWA Results Explained
An authenticated VoteWA result does more than state whether a person is registered. It can show voter registration status, residence and mailing addresses, precinct and political districts, participation history, officials, ballot status, and nearby vote centers or drop boxes. It also provides a personalized guide and ballot information. These tools help a Lakewood voter confirm that an address change reached the record and identify the districts tied to that residence.
The portal is offered in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, and Somali. Online registration or an update may use a Washington driver license, state ID, or permit. Washington also documents an alternate route using the last four digits of a Social Security number and a signature image. The personal portal is the right channel for checking one’s own voter registration, ballot progress, or district assignments.

Public Lakewood Voter Record Fields
RCW 29A.08.710 defines the public side of Washington voter records. The public fields can connect a Lakewood registrant with a residence, jurisdiction, precinct, registration date, and election-participation trail. Birth year is public, but the full date is not. A registration number identifies the entry. Public extracts may also break residence and mailing addresses into components and include county and district fields.

These fields do not make VoteWA a browse-all-voters portal. They are supplied through controlled state and county products. The general Washington Public Records Act framework is covered with other Lakewood public records, but voter-roll disclosure also follows election-specific statutes.
Confidential Washington Voter Registration Data
The public record stops well before the complete registration form. Full date of birth, driver license or state-ID data, the last four Social Security number digits, phone, email, and signature remain confidential. Protected workflows can also conceal the source agency. Future Voter information for an underage registrant is protected, as are Address Confidentiality Program and Protected Records Voter details.
Confidential by law. RCW 29A.08.710 keeps full birth dates and sensitive identity or contact fields out of the public voter file. Protected-voter address data receive added safeguards under chapter 40.24 RCW.
A recent public-record dispute illustrates the line. In September 2025, the Secretary of State said it would provide the U.S. Department of Justice only fields allowed for release under RCW 29A.08.710 and .720. The state withheld full birth dates, driver-license data, and partial Social Security numbers. Public status does not turn the underlying registration form into an open document.
Lakewood Voting History Is Limited
A participation entry answers one narrow question: did the registered voter take part in a named election? It cannot reveal selections, candidates, or measures marked on the ballot. Ballot secrecy remains intact. This makes participation history useful for civic and campaign research without exposing how any Lakewood resident voted.
Washington also has no permanent party-registration field. A presidential-primary declaration may become public for 60 days under WAC 434-219-330, but that temporary declaration is not standing party registration. Any claim that a routine Washington voter record reveals a permanent partisan label or a person’s ballot choices is false.
Does one missed election cancel registration? No. State and county list maintenance uses coordinated records, death comparisons, address confirmation, and federal NVRA procedures. A single missed election is not an automatic cancellation rule.
Three Lakewood Voter Data Products
VoteWA, the statewide active-voter extract, and a Pierce County custom order serve different needs. Treating them as one search leads to wrong expectations. The personal portal is for the voter. The monthly state file is a broad active-roll product. The Pierce form can narrow a request to districts, precincts, matchback dates, or selected voting history.

The Secretary of State extract is generally refreshed by the end of the first business day each month. It includes current and prior-year voting history plus precinct and district data. The stated response window is up to five business days, though delivery is often immediate.
Order Pierce County Voter Data
Pierce County Elections accepts its data request form by email or at its Tacoma office. The requester supplies a name, address, email, and phone, plus an organization when applicable. The form supports district or precinct files, matchbacks for chosen days, custom data and date ranges, and voting-history choices. A matchback shows ballot-return activity for a request date; it does not disclose ballot selections.
- Complete the Pierce voter data request form. Identify each district or precinct, matchback day, custom field, date range, and desired election history.
- Sign the acknowledgment that limits the data to political purposes and bars commercial use. Choose email or CD delivery in tab-delimited text.
- Prepay by cash or check to the Pierce County Auditor. District or precinct files cost $5 each, and matchbacks cost $5 for each requested day.
- Email the form to pcelections@co.pierce.wa.us or send it to Pierce County Elections, 2501 S 35th St Suite C, Tacoma, WA 98409. Allow five business days.

The Elections office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. These email, mail or counter channels matter when VoteWA does not provide the requested product. Lakewood records sit within Pierce County’s election system, not in a separate city voter-roll office.
Protected Lakewood Voter Registration
Washington’s Address Confidentiality Program gives qualifying survivors and certain threatened justice, election, and health workers a substitute address, mail forwarding, an authorization card, and a service-of-process agent. State and local agencies generally must accept that substitute for new records under chapter 40.24 RCW and chapter 434-840 WAC. Voter registration receives added handling within that system.
For an ACP voter, the actual residence, name, county, and precinct are removed from the public voter record and must not be entered into VoteWA. Actual street and mailing locations, as well as unique home, work, or school locations, are confidential. Earlier public records are not erased automatically, which is why protected participation requires care across more than one record system.

Use Lakewood Voter Rolls Lawfully
Washington limits furnished voter data to political purposes under RCW 29A.08.720. RCW 29A.08.740 makes use for commercial advertising or solicitation a class C felony, carrying up to five years of imprisonment or a $10,000 fine. The statute also provides $5-per-item nuisance liability. Public data never grants permission for stalking, threats, surveillance, impersonation, fraud, or evasion of a protection order.
Keep the purpose lawful. Participation data may support political research, but it never reveals a vote. Voter marketing misuse can be reported to Pierce County Elections at 253-798-8683 or pcelections@co.pierce.wa.us.
Preserve the request, message, link, or other proof when reporting suspected misuse. Immediate danger belongs with 911. Local crime reports should use Lakewood Police’s official nonemergency channel. Harassment, stalking, and cyber harassment are also addressed by RCW 9A.46.020, RCW 9A.46.110, and RCW 9A.90.120. A public voter file is a controlled civic record, not a source of unrestricted personal leads.
